Soph is 8 weeks today!! She is doing great and most importantly SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!! (Hopefully this doesn't jinx me for later this evening...) She slept 10 hours last night, yes, 10. I was a little worried about it knowing that during the day she eats every 3 hours or so but I let her sleep and took the advice to never wake a sleeping baby.

Kris went back to work and I am headed there as well on the 6th. (His shift work completely SUCKS by the way...no other word for it!) We are anticipating getting into our groove here at home and me seeing my *BIG* kids at school.

Sophia is 5 weeks today! She has been a great girl now that we have her food/eating schedule worked out. I have been getting a *little* more sleep too...aahhhhh! We've been taking her out more and below are some pics of us from the past week and from one of our walks.

Kris goes back to work very soon and I am SO thankful to have had him home for the past 5 weeks with us. Sad to see him go back but that will get us into more of a real routine. We are also celebrating Kris' birthday today with a low key dinner and Sharon's German Chocolate cake at home...YUM:) Feeling lucky and thankful today. <3

Almost 4 weeks....

Our girl will be 4 weeks on Thursday and let me tell ya, it has been a long month!! Trying to get to know her feeding schedule, her lil' moods and her upset tummy all on little to no sleep is hard work At the end of the day I am thankful for her as well as the help from my friends and most importantly from Kris. Not sure what I'd do without him. Here is my favorite shot from the past week.

Before Soph was born I started her bow collection- she has a ton of them! Kris hates it when I put her in them and says that he thinks she hates it too;) I told them both I will continue to put them on her until she can tell me she doesn't want to wear them anymore, and maybe even after that too.

Ms. Sophia is 2 weeks tomorrow! (Thursday.) We are SLOWLY adjusting to life with our new girl. It's hard work! She has already had her first photo shoot and been on a few outings. Can't wait to post her professional pics as soon as we get them- it was quite an adventure today and we had to have lots of patience.

I am SO thankful that Kris is home with me for a few weeks- he is a great daddy!

Welcome Sophia Lynn

It's been a busy week! We had Sophia Lynn Alexander on December 1, 2011 at 10:09pm. She weighed in at 7lbs, 11oz. and 18.5 inches long. She is doing great and a whole lot of work! Labor and delivery was about 11 hours and pretty easy. Things went so fast for a first baby. SO thankful for Kris by my side during delivery and for the next 4 weeks. He is an amazing DADDY. We have been "surviving" the first week and trying to get the hang of things...we will make it through:) Below are some pics of our Princess Pie!

Thank you to everyone for all of the calls, texts, messages, flowers and gifts.

Getting close....

Do you see that ticker up there!? It is getting closer and closer to our due date and let's just say she can make her entrance at any time. Kris is excited and asks every day if I "feel any different..." We are now down to our weekly appointments and just waiting, and waiting.....and waiting. Her room is all done, baby girl clothes are washed and ready to go, bags are packed and carseats are installed. Sleeping is becoming more and more difficult/uncomfortable but I suppose that is just getting me ready for what's to come.

After this long Thanksgiving weekend (5 days off) we got some last minute stuff done. Tree is put up for Sophia's first Christmas and we are ready. Next post will be our baby girl!!

Can't believe it has been so long since my last post!! School has been busy, Kris has been on weird shifts, but most importantly Baby Sophia has been growing:) I have been feeling great except for the 3 a.m. leg cramps- weird but they always come at 3 a.m.! Overall, no complaints here though and doctor says she will probably be about 7 lbs and everything is looking great. I am 32 weeks now, so just a short time until she arrives. We've been working on the nursery and I had the most AMAZING baby shower yesterday. I feel SO loved and received some of the best gifts from family and friends. We had brunch and a great visit. Kris and I are so appreciative of everyone's generosity:)

We also have celebrated a wedding! My brother was married at Balboa Park in San Diego last month, so me and my friend made the journey for that. We had a great time and the weather was perfect.

Some nursery preparation! Kris did a fantastic job and we are finishing it up this weekend. Pink and chocolate stripes:) We'll put the polka dot letters on the opposite solid pink wall.

Here is Midge with the new stroller and car seat form Auntie Steph! We also received a bassinette and high chair from Grandma Sharon- we are SO lucky! Midge doesn't quite know what to think about all of this yet...

Speaking of Sharon, she made this delicious and super cute cake for the shower. I'm a total cake snob now- only her cakes will do!

My sister made this diaper cake and sent these flowers for the shower. She also brought most of the food for the fabulous brunch we had. Most of the ladies had mimosas, but I stuck to pink lemonade:)

Busy lately.....

We've been busy with work lately but I wanted to post a few pics of our trip to Vegas earlier in the summer as well as some pics of the family reunion in Washington. My Washington family threw me and baby girl a shower- it was SO thoughtful! I was feeling the love. So lucky to have a great extended family who made me feel so special:)

First was the Vegas trip for Sharon's birthday. She has always wanted to see Celine Dion so we went and the show was great. We also so a Cirque Du Soleil show.

What a nerd...

Next are a few pics from the shower. The diaper cake was SO cute and the pic of Kris' hands shows just how little those diapers are....weird to think our babe will fit into them!

In Washington we made our way to the annual family reunion. We had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer but Kris had to get going on his 14 day motorcycle trip on a tour through MANY national parks. (Without me.) :o( I guess I could sit this one out for this year only in the name of keeping our baby girl safe:) But I was jealous!! Anyway, the baby shower was fabulous! We had a BBQ, cake and presents!!

For now we are settling in to work and school. We are on different shifts which is hard to get used to- but we are making it work. Just 3 more months until we get to meet baby girl- time flies!!

Summer Slacker....

Okay, so I've totally given up on the whole 30 day BLOG CHALLENGE...and I'm okay with it!! But I will write a lil' update on what we've been up to lately:)

Besides Kris working A LOT we have managed to celebrate the 4th of July, go to the Reno Rodeo (and enjoy the fair food there, MMMMM) and plan a motorcycle trip for next month (That I've been pouting about because I can't go....) Kris will be going for 9ish days up to Washington, through Idaho, Montana and then home. I suppose it isn't all that bad that I can't go this time on the annual summer motorcycle trip....I've been tired and busy with Baby Alexander:) Here's a pic of my bump...which is a little bigger now. (This was a pic taken before we went to the Rodeo about 3 weeks ago...)

We find out what we are having on July 19th and we are SUPER EXCITED. After we find out we will start SHOPPING, planning and organizing the nursery! Kris has already purchased some Seahawks gear for the babe...super cute:) We'll keep you posted!

For August we have a Las Vegas trip planned as well as the annual Washington Family Reunion. Then it's back to school- wow that was quick:(

Day #2- 30 Day Blog Challenge

A photo of me and how my day went is today's topic....
(Not a picture of me today, but rather a picture that reflects my sigh of relief and relaxation about to take place in t-minus 1.5 days!)

Today started out as "one of those days." Imagine this: 2 days until summer vacation+ 180 7th graders who have to stay in a classroom all day + one pregnant/moody/emotional teacher who is just ready to be done with the school year= get me out of here ASAP! Teachers AND students are done...tapped out. BUT the show must go on. I planned an easy activity for the kids that would *hopefully keep them somewhat quiet to help the time pass. My morning was a success...the afternoon not so much. (With the classes, that is.)
Then it all changed....

I received an email before lunch that stated I was being recalled to my job for the 2011-2012 year.

With budget reductions and the state in a "state of crisis" regarding education, no teaching job is safe. Especially mine, where I was the last hired with my credential in secondary schools. EVERY YEAR for 3 YEARS I have received a reduction notice.

(Along with my soapbox, that I will stay off of for the purpose of this post, this years reduction notice was more disgusting than ones in the past....just so ya know. Lot's of D.R.A.M.A. in my neck of the woods!)

Some new details including a little babe that is coming in December, added to the pregnant/moody/emotional person I spoke of earlier and caused me to be even more of a nutcase when the pink slip came down. BUT, as the husband said it is "all gonna be alright" now. I can breathe a breath of fresh air, enjoy the 10.5 weeks of vacation time coming my way and know that it IS all gonna be alright....for this year anyway!!

It is now 8:36 pm and I am exhausted...think I will turn in tonight and enjoy (or try to) the last 1.5 days of school....GOD help me!

30 Day Blog Challenge....

So I found this cool thing called the 30 day blog challenge. I'm going to try to do it....not saying it will all get done in 30 days though! One post each day, various topics. Here it goes:

Day one is 15 facts about me:

One: I am a home body. LOVE being in my home and just hanging out. It's peaceful and I like it.

Two: Pineapple milkshakes are my favorite and they remind me of my Nano. (My Mom's Mom.)

Three: I'm a germ-a-phobe. Have to disinfect and the smell of bleach makes me happy! Perhaps it is from hanging out with 7th graders all day.

Four: Speaking of 7th graders, I love my job. This age group is quirky and awkward which is why I like it....they are too funny!

Five: I only prefer a few good friends as opposed to a trillion semi friends. My friends will ALWAYS be there for me, as I will for them.

Six: I love the smell of race gas at a motocross race. Reminds me of the BVH days!

Seven: I have a 30 minute dental routine each nite that I have to complete or I won't fall asleep. No cavities for this lady!

Eight: I LOVE living in Fallon....it is quaint and I prefer it over all places!

Nine: I may have a slight addiction to BUCKLE jeans and expensive and way over priced purses...which hasn't always been the case.

Ten: I've changed my favorite flower to calla lillies...recently.

Eleven: I'm learning to speak what is on my mind rather than telling people what they want to hear...okay been doing this awhile but getting better at it. (And not feeling guilty!)

Twelve: I've realized lately that even the "good old days" weren't so good and that the best is yet to come.

Thirteen: I have a weird thing with numbers, particularly 13 and numbers that add up to thirteen. Like with dates and what not...it is odd and too hard to explain here. But it's creepy.

Fourteen: LOVE funnel cakes....and the Reno Rodeo is coming up where I plan to have at least one! Random I know.

Fifteen: The best advice I've ever gotten was from my Mom: "Take time for yourself. Take care of yourself first before you can take care of others...." <3

Not too much has been going on around here lately..... hence the lack of posts. Yesterday Kris did get some great news though- he has been promoted to Sergeant!! He starts his Sergeant work tomorrow so we are back to shift work. Ahhhhh the wife of a Sergeant!!

Congratulations to him- I am so proud:) This picture is a little out dated but it's the only one I could find with him in his uniform:)

SO- with this new change in schedule we have made some vacation time changes. NO annual Death Valley Trip for us:( I'm sure this summer we will get some good riding in though! Until next time....

SOOOOO....not much new news to write about I guess. Semester 2 has begun here at school and Kris is back to school as well. I have a feeling I will be "helping" him a lot with some of his classes!! We'll see how that goes! Last week my brother was on leave from Afghanistan and we had a good time together. We all had a few dinner dates with my sister and nephews which is always a fun time!! Wishing him safe travels as he makes his way back to Afghanistan sometime this week. SO proud of him. Of course I don't have any pictures unless they are on my phone of when he was visiting. Have to get better about that!

BUT here is me and my nephew, Seth. LOVE HIM!

We are looking forward to February as we celebrate my sweet nephew Brady's 3rd birthday. I'll be sure to get plenty of pictures of that as we will be heading to a BOUNCE HOUSE in Reno. I guess it is a huge building with nothing but bounce houses so that should be interesting!!

We returned from JAMAICA last night....and I am now a Mrs!! It was a lovely wedding- everything I thought it would be and more. I want to thank those that made the trip to be with us on our special day. I have included just a few shots of the wedding....still waiting on the pics that Kevin took with his fabulously professional camera and camera crew:) I must say it was a great week and a half off too!

We had an amazing view!!

For the first few days we hung out in our cabana at the pool, used the spa, swam, ate, drank and welcomed family as they came in. The wedding coordinators took care of EVERYTHING for us and it was no stress!! Thanks to everyone for the well wishes- we are looking forward to see what our future brings!

YIKES! I can't believe it has been over a month since I posted anything! I suppose nothing is really going on around here- just the same old stuff. Work and school, committees, online course and more work. Stephanie DID get her new motorcycle though- of course it is a Harley!! Kris has always wanted his sister to get one and after she took the safety class we knew it was just a matter of time! She is doing great on it so far. Here are a few pics:

As for us we are just working on a few things around the house. A few weeks back we had a flood in the living room- yes, a flood. It was one of those "I told you so" things on my part....like "hey I think there is something wrong with the water pressure..." and the next thing you know after it has been ignored for a week it shows up as water leaking from the wall. JUST LOVELY!!

The giant hole in the wall looks SO nice next to our fine portraiture from Picture This!

And just so you know= tomorrow is November first....which means we have now approached the month of the wedding!! Not too much longer now. Plans are final, dress is picked up, bags are ready to be packed.

We FINALLY got a couple images from our Engagement Portrait session! We had SO much fun at the photoshoot. (Yes even Kris admitted that it was a good time.) Kris and I have a new addition! We picked up our sweet little puppy tonight. She came to us with a huge pink polka dot bow:) Her name is Midge. We LOVE her TONS!! Nothing like a new pup AND a brand new school year all in one week to wear me out.

Things are coming together so nicely lately and I am loving it!

Summer is over....

So summer is over and the school year begins- tomorrow. We had SO much fun this summer just hanging out and of course taking our annual motorcycle trip. This year Kris started trip planning in March. Yes, March. The route probably changed 30 times before we left on August 1st. We were gone about 11-12 days. We headed ALL the way up the Pacific Hwy, camping along the way. I'm not much for tent camping, but once a year with a great group of friends and the soon to be hubby isn't too bad;) Here are some photos of our adventure. Enjoy!

First stop was Willits, CA. Looks cozy, doesn't it?

Second stop: Crescent City, CA. I would post pics of each of our campsites but really, they all look similar- nice and cozy with the tent! We went through the Redwoods and it was SO fun...that was my favorite day I think.

Saw some BEAUTIFUL coasltline along the way and even some sun. Rare on this trip. Next night we got cabins! Horray:) Astoria, Oregon for Day 3 and 4.

Day 5: Port Angeles, WA. Did lots of riding and the trolly in the city. Good and relaxing day.

Now onto Olympia, WA for Kris' family reunion. Thanks again to Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Scott for letting us invade your house for 3 days- I for one appreciated a bed and a REAL hot shower!

Alright.....that is the first half or better portion of the trip. I'm stopping for now and will post the rest later on. Stay tuned for: Crater Lake, Klamath Falls and our final leg home!

This week my good friends Angie and Bonnie went up to the RENO RODEO!! Ummmm....lots of FUN was had but I didn't get any pics of the rodeo itself. But these are cute:o) I go every year and it is a blast- gotta love the cowboys!

So I'm a new AUNT- again:) My sister delivered a VERY healthy baby boy on June 16, 2010. His name is Seth and he was 9lbs 6oz. and 21 inches long!! Congrats to my sister and her family. Isn't he SO cute??

Mom's on the Run 2010

For Mother's Day weekend we did our annual "Mom's On The Run" to benefit Northern Nevada women fighting for their lives against breast cancer. This money stays in Nevada and many families get to use the funds raised at this event for treatment, travel and living expenses among other things. My wonderful Mother had the chance to be with us for two years at this event and now we run in memory of her and her selfless fight against this terrible disease. (Well, this year we walked because my sister who is 8 months pregnant was participating too...very memorable!) I am lucky enough to now have Kris and his family (my soon to be family) come with us each year too. It is a great way to remember my Mom and help people out too. Here are some pics:

This year AND last year my BFF Em came with us....these guys pictured below are also there every year and they always have a theme- this year it was "Lt. Dangle." Can you tell?? Not sure what the point is but they get a lot of attention!

Death Valley 2010

We ventured off last Friday for our annual trip to Death Valley. Kris and I along with 6 other people left bright and early on Friday morning. Started off a bit chilly and to be honest never really warmed up. Well not like it usually does in Death Valley. The weather only got up to 86 degrees- even in the lowest part of the valley!! The flowers were beautiful and it is nice to see them before the all die in a month or so!! We visited the Death Valley Nut and Candy Co., rode all around from Daunte's View to Badwater. In total we traveled 903 miles!! (That sort of sounds like nothing compared to the trips we took last year- but it was WAY fun.) Even though we had to deal with the Beatty High School Prom that was at our hotel, (which was interesting) we managed to have a FAB time with lots of laughs and memories. Here are a few pics from the trip.

April happenings.....

April has been an odd month. Kris is in Laughlin right now at the Laughlin River Run. (Click to see more.) He says the weather is wonderful. He left and it rained and snowed for 4 days!! It never rains that long!! I have had some lovely evenings here at the house just doing what I please...but on day 4 I'm beginning to miss him like CRAZY! Here's a pic just because:

The wedding plans are coming along and I just got the call today that our Washington family will be able to make the wedding!! YEAH! They are SO much fun to hang out with and I'm so happy they will be able to share this wonderful occasion with us. So far that is 10 people....waiting to hear back from a few others. I just LOVE birthdays!! We celebrated Steph's Birthday this weekend with a WONDERFUL dinner prepared by Kris and even BETTER cake made by Sharon:) We had lots of fun just relaxing and hanging out with family.

Hi happy family and friends! Well the time has come- Kris popped the question on Monday, Feb. 15th! He got me this beautiful ring and I am in love with him and in love with IT!! I absolutely LOVE it. We started out the weekend with a trip to Reno and stayed at a beautiful room at the JA Nugget. We went to a movie and had dinner- but the ring wasn't ready yet! (I had no idea, but got the story later.) After much pain in the butt and a few trips to Reno, Kris picked up the ring on Monday night and asked me then- it was perfect and could not have asked for a better way. I thought it was an amazing weekend even without that, but am happy to announce our engagement. We are excited to be taking the next step and thought we'd share it with all of you. Thanks for all the well wishes that we have already received!!

WARNING: LOTS OF PICTURES AHEAD!!

Well, Kris and I finally took our Mexico Christmas Cruise. All in all it was fun, but I will probably not go cruising again. I felt a *little* nauseous the whole time and apparently you have to learn to RELAX in a cruise and I have a tough time doing that!! But here are some pictures from our trip! Enjoy:)

Saw the city, a Cathedral, crazy Mexican cliff divers and ATE...LOTS!

In Puerto Vallarta we did a pirate ship tour...it was HOT outside but they took us to a beautiful secluded beach. The pirates were kinda scary though!

Oh and we did a little shopping...Kris was WAY excited with his find!!

We had a great holiday, but next time we'll fly to our destination instead of sail!

SNOW DAY and ICE SPECTACULAR

YIPEEEEE for snow!! Today we got a call that there is NO SCHOOL for a FALLON SNOW DAY! We never get these kind of days so Kris and I are just staying inside and enjoying the winter wonderland:) Last night Steph treated us to a Sunday brunch and Ice Spectacular. It was a great family fun-filled day! I wasn't allowed to take pics inside the Ice Spectacular but here are some pics of our SNOW DAY and before the show. Enjoy!!

Well....there hasn't been too much going on around here....but I have some faithful readers that have been disappointed in the lack of posts. SO, Kris wants me to post about Thanksgiving and our upcoming plans. That sounds like a good idea so......

We had Thanksgiving this year at Kris' mom's house. Sharon made a WONDERFUL feast for all of us. My sister came down with her hubby and my sweet nephew who enjoyed the new found pots and pans as well as the dinner. We all had a great time with lots of laughs. We played Pictionary and Phase 10....Kris, Sharon and I LOST at Pictionary but we think it was rigged! We kept getting super hard things to draw while Steph's team kept getting the easy stuff!! Anyway it was fun so that's all that matters. As for Christmas we will be heading out on our cruise shortly. The ticker to the right is getting closer each day! We are so excited to be able to spend time in such a beautiful place with each other....where it's WARM!! When we come back there will for sure be pics! I've been REALLY failing to keep up on my blog. But nothing new has really happened either. I AM going to be getting a new niece or nephew in June of 2010 though!!! And we ARE going to head to Mexico here next month for Christmas. BUT that is all. I have included a few pics of me and the main man just because. SURE wishing something exciting would happen around here but, no go!! Hope everyone is doing great! No news is good news I guess.

Seasonal 49er/Seahawks game!

This year Kris and I went to the annual 49er/Seahawks game in San Francisco. We "were sick" on Monday and took a whole weekend to just relax, watch some football and enjoy the bay. We left on Saturday morning, did some shopping in Reno and were on our way. The HAWKS have been doing pretty good with pre-season and their first win against the Rams. So we had the faith....BUT the 49er PRIDE was just too much for them and we suffered a loss after our quarterback got ran over on the field. DANG IT:( It was a fun time anyway, but the only problem was that I forgot sunblock and it was HOT. Who would have thought it was going to be HOT and SUNNY in SF?!?! I got a *slight* burn on my back....which still hurts. But all in all it was a fantastic weekend with my honey! Oh how I love him:)

We found our seats where we nearly MELTED for the duration of the game...it was fun though!

I was going to post pictures and show you how close we were but it has taken me forever to format this so....no go. We were fourth row from the field and SUPER close to the players. Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott and some others were there too...it was pretty cool to see all of them! Instead of those pics you get a pic of the Golden Gate Bridge. After all the times I have been to SF, I have never been to the Golden Gate! So Kris took me on it:)

BRACES ARE OFF!!!!

YIPEEEEE....last week I got my braces off! It was 2.5 years of tender teeth, gums and NO caramel. popcorn, taffy or steak:( BUT it was worth it and I'm so excited to have them off. Next week I'm going in for some ZOOM whitening since my wonderful orthodontist is giving me a "deal." YAY for no braces!!

We also went to the Reno Aces game this weekend. If you haven't been you need to go....lots of fun!!

Christmas VACATION!!!!

Most of you are thinking~ "She is nuts, what is she talking about??" Wellllll....you may have noticed my new ticker there to the right. Kris and I are going on a CRUISE for Christmas!! I am SO excited, as I have never been on one before.

The itinerary is as follows:

Day one ~ Leave from L.A

Day two ~ At Sea

Day three ~ Cabo San Lucas

Day four ~ Mazatlan

Day five ~ Puerto Vallarta

Day six ~ At Sea

Day seven ~ At Sea

~Back to L.A.

Or something like that!! All I know is that we will be in WARM weather and SUN over Christmas!! We are going on Norwegian Cruise Lines and it is going to be amazing:)

On a side not, school is going great! I had such a great day today and I am looking forward to our long weekend:)

Sooo....I have not been on in awhile. Over the past couple of weeks, Kris and I have just been enjoying the end of summer vacation. I also celebrated my birthday. Kris took me up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. We stayed at a "historical" Camp Richardson. By "historical" I mean that yes, it is old, but it also had NO air conditioning, no TV and paper thin walls. Don't get me wrong, we had a fun time. We hung out at the beach and ate some GREAT food! (We barely got any sleep though due to the group next door and Kris woke up at 2 a.m. to "ask" (more like threaten) them to keep it down!) People are so rude and do not follow the rules it seems! Anyway, all in all it was a fun time, so here are some pics of that weekend:

We also had a birthday party with the family here at my house. My sister came down with her sweet family and I got to hang out with my nephew. Kris' mom and sister also came over and Sharon (Kris' mom) made me a DELICIOUS carrot cake. I LOVED all of my presents and look forward to spending them at the mall here shortly! Thanks again family for a Happy Birthday!!

School has started and we have finished up our first week. Kris is back as School Resource Officer and I am back at CCJHS working as a Geography teacher. so far it has been good.....I give the kiddies about a month to show their true colors:)

Sturgis UPDATE

Okay...so it has taken me a couple days (and forever to upload the pics) to recover from our Sturgis trip. There are LOTS more pics, but blogger seems to take forever to get them all organized...I know you understand!

Sturgis trip 2009 was 3,000 miles round trip. I did EVERY mile on the motorcycle...it was LONG. We saw some beautiful country side and managed to make it through the wind, sun and rain. We also came out ALIVE at Sturgis...despite the crazies and the half naked women that needed to put some clothes on! SEE BELOW! It rained 3 out of 4 night on South Dakota, and we were TENT camping. YES ladies and gentleman, this girl tent camped for 10 days:)

Then we went to Yellowstone. If you have not seen it you need to...the natural geysers and beautiful scenery is amazing!

Next night was Cody, WY....we were only there one night. They said that it was S'MORES night, but when we got there, NO S'MORES! BOO KOA campgrounds!

So, we carried on to Sturgis~

Yes, that lady is wearing candy pasties and candy panties. She thought she was IT....eww! The pic of the motorcycle tank is from an artist that did paintings/pin striping right there while you wait! Pretty amazing!

Next we saw Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial....this was my favorite day!

Then we went down the "NEEDLES HWY." That was pretty cool...got some good shots of the Black Hills and enjoyed our ride:) Then, once back at camp...I got my S'MORES:)

All in all it was a great time....unforgettable. I don't know that I will do it again, maybe next time it will be a "MAN" trip! But....even after 3,000 miles and tent camping...he still LOVES me!

In Washington for Kris' grandfather's funeral....it was a beautiful day and a wonderful service....he is ALREADY missed. We got to spend time with the WHOLE family and it was a great trip.

In other news...have I mentioned that school is over in 2 days!?! Then my summer begins. We have LOTS to do this summer including Sturgis 2009 (see countdown,) planning another Washington trip in July and a few other "additions." We are also thinking about a Christmas trip to take, probably to Hawaii. I'm hoping we can go! Does anyone have any location suggestions or tips for a Hawaiian vacation? Should be awesome!! Mother's Day

As most of you know, my mom passed away last October after a brave and relentless fight against breast cancer. It is my first Mother's Day without my mom. This time last year she was healthy and clear of cancer. Today will be a day full of emotions, good and bad. I have some GREAT memories of us at Mom's on the Run, a local fundraiser for those currently fighting for their life against breast cancer. Below are some pics of my beautiful mom and our time last year. She is missed every day, especially on this somber Mother's Day for me. If your mom is still around, hug her a little extra today. Today, me and my family will walk/run in her memory.

Death Valley 2009

So we got back from Death Valley last nite. Round trip we traveled about 1,000+ miles, which is a long way on two wheels!! The wind was pretty crazy but we made it through. We went through 40 degree wind and rain to 100+ degree weather in Death Valley. We saw LOTS of pretty scenery and I have been officially named the Princess Road Warrior. hehehe. Thanks babe for taking me with you on this trip!!

So the main man FINALLY got back from his Laughlin Trip and had a good time. I didn't hear too much about it because you know how men always tell stories?? "We had a great time, we rode around. The tent was cool and I'm glad to be home." That was the extent of it. Right now he is sleeping on the couch...so he is worn out!! But here are some pics of the adventure:

SPRING BREAK....

So....no Survey Sunday. Been a little down and out lately. Had a *minor* surgery on Friday and am just starting to feel better from that!! HAPPY late EASTER to everyone. I got a GREAT Easter basket/bag that Kris made me...it was so thoughtful!! Here is a list of some upcoming events for us:

*Wednesday is really the start of my Spring Break. I will be *free* from this thing. (If you know me, you know what I mean. I don't wish ANY surgery on ANYONE.) I do not do so hot coming out of surgery off of the anesthesia. And no...this was not THE surgery.

*We are probably headed to a bike run on Saturday if all goes well at my doctors. We need to try and find me some chaps that are LONG enough for our MANY rides this summer.

*Kris is headed to the Laughlin River Run soon, and I just might head to Death Valley with them this year too....I hear that it is a must at least once.

*Next month we have the annual "Mom's on the Run" 5K run for Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer patients. ALL of the $$ earned at this event stays here in Northern Nevada. The money helps with travel, living expenses, treatment etc. CCJHS also put in a donation to "Mom's on the Run" in memory of my mom.....aren't they awesome? PLEASE go to http://www.momsontherun.info/ to sign up or get more information about this wonderful organization. It is a WONDERFUL way to spend Mother's Day 2009!!

Motorcycle BABES....

So....I was thinking I needed to update this blog and there is really NOT a whole lot going on over on our end except....a few motorcycle trips we have planned. I will go in order.

First, Kris is planning on going to Death Valley and then the Laughlin River Run. These do not seem all that exciting to me, but is a tradition with Kris and his friends. So he will be going here:

To the NEW SPA AT THE ATLANTIS!

If you are one of my girls and have not heard about this excursion yet, don't worry. The plans are still being worked out and I will email/call you. But mark out your calendars for probably the first weekend in May as that is the weekend WE WILL GO:)

NEXT on the list is the big STURGIS TRIP OF 2009. There is a countdown ticker to your right on my page that Kris made me put up. The expected dates are Aug. 1-10, 2009. Keep in mind that we will be staying in a TENT the WHOLE time. IT should be interesting. Not that I am too proud/that much of a princess to stay in a tent but I DO like to be comfy especially after 1200 miles on a motorcycle and back. My butt is pretty skinny and it hurts after awhile. But here is the trip:

Day 1: Fallon to Pocatello, ID

Day 2: Pocatello, ID to Cody, WY (it will be s'mores night at our campground:)

Day 3: Cody, WY to Wyatt's Hideaway, Sturgis, SD (4 days there.)

Day 7: Sturgis, SD to Cheyenne, WY

Day 8: Cheyenne, WY to Ritchfield, UT

Day 9/10: Ritchfield, UT to Fallon, NV

Sounds pretty exciting eh?? There will for sure be pictures and we should see some pretty interesting things along the way. Here is just a small glimpse of Sturgis:

There are also lots of half naked women running around that should probably put some clothes on. I will not be one of them:)

I told Kris that since I am going on all these excursions with him this summer, that he is going to have to save and take me somewhere that I want to go.....during Christmas break this year. I picked HAWAII....and have never been. We will see if that happens!

Flowers, Cake and Presents

So....Kris did pretty good this Valentine's Day. He got me these beautiful flowers. These are my favorite and they smell soooo good. WE ARE CUTE!

Then we went to my sweet nephew's birthday party...his name is Brady. I think he is pretty cute too.

Now we are relaxing at home and about to enjoy or third day of our three day weekend. AAAHHHHH.....NNNIICCCEE.

EGG SANDWICHES...

This post is a little random....but I feel as if it is important information. Lately Kris has been making me these egg sandwiches. I'm not talking egg salad, I mean scrambled egg with butter and cheese and deliciousness. And isn't it the best when someone else makes them for you?? He is the BEST egg sandwich maker.....what is your favorite out of the ordinary comfort food??

Hey there~

So I thought I'd update my blog since when I wrote the last one I was REALLY annoyed. I am getting all new kids starting on Monday. That means 200+ new names, 200+ new personalities and lots of changes. I am looking forward to starting yet another new semester with wonderful students! I am excited to meet them:)

As for the other stuff....nothing is really new. Just been hanging at home and re-doing a few rooms. I just finished the kitchen...for now. The theme is "FAT CHEF." If you have not seen the FAT CHEF...here is a pic:

I am trying to convince Kris that we need to paint one of the walls (perfect for this) black and white checkers. It is going to look great. (I'm still working on him.) I have lots of cute things up....but this was the only good pic I could find for those of you unfamiliar with the fat chef.

So, that is all....I know, pretty boring! Kind of nice to be boring actually!

So, I'm going to vent about my day. Scenario of the morning: we will call this student Billy. For the record I do not have a Billy.

Background: It is less than a week until semester ends and the kids are on the downhill slope for being out of my class and into another semester class. Billy has a 52%. A 52% is REALLY hard to get in my class. Things are REALLY clear cut and obvious. 52%=irresponsible.

Billy: "Hey Ms. Harrison. I was looking at my grades today and I noticed that I have a 52%."

Me: Yep, sure do. Did you not get the progress report I sent home 4 weeks ago?"

Billy: "Um, no." But what can I do to raise my grade? Do you have extra credit?"

Me; Not even changing expressions: "Nope you earned that one. Maybe you should have asked me 4 weeks ago when you had time to make it up."

Me: Just thinking...not saying...Billy I can't even think of an extra credit that would help you with that 52%

Billy: "Oh, so what should I do?"

Me: "Learn from this lesson. You get a 52%."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I write this as if I am surprised....not so. What ever happened to RESPONSIBILITY?? WE were all responsible people weren't we? Do I sound old?

Kris is turning another year older tomorrow. Since we have to finally go back to work on his actual birthday, we celebrated this weekend. We went over to his mom Sharon's house and celebrated with his favorite dinner and German Chocolate Birthday Cake. He also seems to think that he is the MASTER of Scrabble and any other fun-family-game you can think of. WELL....he was wrong!! It turns out that I am the master of the card game Phase-10 and Sharon is the master of SCRABBLE. As the night went on and we became more tired the words got to be pretty interesting!! We really know how to party! ahahaha:) There were also a few funny quotes during the night that are worth mentioning......see captions below!

I just wanted to post this pic....it was during our Christmas break. Kris and I went to Reno to spend some of my gift cards. (I'm so lucky:) Then we went to see Marley and Me. Recommendation: do not go see it without a BOX of kleenex. Not kidding, a BOX. Horribly sad....

Park City Trip

So...we got back from Park City a couple days early. Which is actually nice because there is soooo much to do before Christmas! Actually, I didn't take ANY pics, which is suprising for me! It was nice because we just got to do whatever we wanted once we got there. We did a little shopping at the outlet mall and enjoyed the snow. We ATE a LOT and the best part....

HOT STONE MASSAGES!!

That's right, I got us BOTH hot stone massages just because! It was soooo nice. I'd do it every week if it wasn't so pricey! But it was worth it.

We also got to see Kris' uncle Scott....but only for a few because they had to get back to Seattle....it was REALLY snowing there so they headed back early. Anyway....we are back and wishing everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS if I don't blog before then!

Pre-Christmas Trip.....

So we planned a trip to Park City, Utah for a little Pre-Christmas R&R. We are headed out soon. We were going to pile in my Jeep and go but now we can ride in comfort cause Kris got a new truck!!! YAY.....so excited for our little mini vacation and trucks!! Here is where we will be going:

I know....NICE HUH?!?!? We are staying in the condo that Kris' Uncle Scott has. WWAAHHOO! That will be a great kick off to our 2 WEEK CHRISTMAS BREAK FROM SCHOOL!!! And we need it....the kids are being ROTTEN!!! Look for pics from our trip soon.

Thanksgiving Trip 2008

We are back from our Thanksgiving Trip to Seattle and we had such a fun time!! Besides all of the great food and hanging out with family, Kris, his family and I got to see the sights of Seattle as well. We went to the Space Needle to eat lunch, saw Pike Place Market, watched movies and just had an all around fabulous time! It was soooo fun to meet all of his family and get a chance to hang out for 5 days. Below is a slideshow of our trip that I had to post separately. I want to thanks Kris' Uncle Scott and Aunt Bonnie for letting us take over the top floor of their house. But really thank EVERYONE for such a great time.

SO I KNOW that ALL of you have been wanting to see the pics of the HALLOWEEN PARTY since I revealed what we were going to be in the last post. I am going to post just a few pics and if you want more send me your email address through my email....

Kris had to work HALLOWEEN night but he got home just in time to make it to the party. There was LOTS of great food and drinks and just enough people to make it fun but not over the top. First things first.....I got a new HAIR~DO....had to go dark for the winter.

Andrea at Shear Bliss in Reno does my hair and she is GREAT...what do you think?

After he got home we loaded up our bevs and the mini meatballs that had been simmering all day and we were off. You can get a little dose of the costume in these pics but they do NO justice to the costume.....let me assure you that when the night ended, the party goers got to vote on SEXIEST, FUNNIEST, SCARIEST and MOST ORIGINAL costume. That's right my friends you guessed it....KRIS got funniest and I got sexiest. We make a great team. The coveted prize was an emmy-like skeleton trophy with title, wine, crackers and cheese along with a couple wine glasses. How did they know that would be the PERFECT gift for me?? Kris got cookie dough:) He also won the brain teaser game....pretty smart convict I would say! ENJOY!

So, Kristopher and I got back from SF this weekend. We had a great time!! A little bay, a little football a LOT of FOOD, and some relaxing time too:) Enjoy the pics........Oh and the SEAHAWKS won:) So he was a happy boy!!

Here we are enjoying SOME MORE FOOD.....look at how little the glass is compared to Kris' hand....too funny. Then since I took a pic with his drink, he had to take my pic with my drink. What a nerd....but SO part of the blog!

Anyhow...we finished the game and I took a pic of the scoreboard....but I am having a heck of a time fomatting all of this to the page so you will have to wait. The Seahawks won by a LOT and one of the kids told me at school that he saw me on TV behind the guy with the green wig. HAHAH! So funny. We had a fun time and on our way home we stopped in Sacramento and got our Halloween costumes for the big event.

Whiteboard DIDDY...

So I wanted to post something a little lighter than the last post.

Before I do that, let me thank everyone who came to my mom's service this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day and I think the service was nice.....mom would've been flattered that you all showed up just for her:) It's about time we paid a tribute and I thought Saturday was great.

Anyhow....In our house we have this whiteboard in the kitchen. We write grocery lists or phone numbers on it or just random information. I'm sure you have one too. Lately, Kris and I have been exchanging little notes on it. Sometimes they are reminders for the day or just little notes. It's kind of funny to see what he comes up with because it is super mushy...probably so mushy that he would be embarrassed if I shared. But this one was too good to keep quiet:

I asked him what it was and this is his exact response: "This is a pic of us in our happy home, with the dog that we are gonna get on a bright and sunny day. I know that the flower is a little dis proportioned, but I like it. I was gonna write a caption but I figured the picture was worth a thousand words."

(Last time it said...."I love you....a very little bit.")

What a nerd....but I love him anyway.

Mom....

This one will be short. Mom passed away on the morning of October 13, 2008. She died as a result of major complications from metastatic breast cancer. Her services will be on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 1pm at the Gardens Funeral Home. She did everything she was asked to do, even if she was scared to do it and they couldn't help her. Ladies, if anything let this be an example that YOU need to keep up on preventative measures the BEST way you can. DON'T put it off for anyone....ever. Do it on time, every time. She said that if she beat this cancer, she wanted to help people. And even though I am angry right now, one way I can help is to get these messages out. She told me a few weeks ago

"Don't ever let yourself get out of shape and ALWAYS take time for yourself."

Pretty good advice I would say.

Now she is in a better place...sounds cliche but true.

I want to give a HUGE thanks to Kris for helping me so much through this time. I really believe that I could not do it without him there to ground me and hug me when I need it. He took time off to be with me yesterday and I truely appreciate him. Love you babe!

Mom update.....

So there is not too much to report. Mom is comfortable and on a steady regimen of meds. We got her a hospital bed and she loves it. (The last one we got she absolutely wanted nothing to do with!) She looks really peaceful and has been sleeping most of the day now. It is hard for her to verbalize what she wants and now, most of the things she says makes no sense....but I just talk to her and pretend she is making total sense:) The nurses say her vitals look good....but I can tell that her body is so tired and she is ready to make her transition. She is incredibly stubborn though so........

Not much else to say. I have just been working as much as I can and taking care of grading and lesson planning on the weekends. (EWWWW...not fun.) Kris, Steph and I managed to get out for the weekend and make it up to the UNR game. It was FREEZING and almost so cold it wasn't even fun but we managed to hang in there.

6 WEIRD THINGS: TAG

So....I was tagged to do this:

List on your blog 6 weird or odd things about you...tag at least 5 people to do the same on their blog.

Well....some of you might not think these things are weird....so maybe that means that I'm not weird. BUT...someone in my life at one time or another has told me these things were a little odd so enjoy!

#1: I MUST make the bed everyday. Even if I don't make it until I get home from work. (Annoying) I have to have a freshly made bed to get into at night....and it makes the room look soooo much cleaner.
#2: I am a obsessive tooth brusher/flosser. It takes me at least 30 minutes to do my nighttime/morning tooth ritual. Including a thorough tooth brushing with my SoniCare toothbrush (highly recommended) and complete tooth flossing. With braces it takes forever but these puppies are as clean as can be.
#3: I wash my hands A TON everyday. Being around 7th graders is yucky. I love them, but they are germ infested beings. EWWWW.....
#4: I HAVE to clean off my desk everyday before I leave work. I have 200+ kids and LOTS of papers to grade.....but it looks like I am always so organized:) haha....little do they know.
#5: I cry when I happy, sad, mad, tired and just about any other emotion I feel. AND KRIS STILL LOVES ME. Now he's to the point where I think he is used to it....but he still gets that scared look in his eye like most men thinking "Oh jeez, she's crying again....what do I do?"
#6: ummmmm......ummmmm When I pump my gas it has to land on a # divisible by .50 cents. For example $50.00 or $51.50. It actually kind of bugs me when the number doesn't fall on a number divisible by $5.00....but I've gotten over it. When someone else pumps my gas I even put in my request for this odd infatuation. It REALLY bugs me when it doesn't happen for whatever reason.

What else can I say....that is ME. I tag Jen, Joleen, Em, Darcy and Traci. And you have to make it about YOU....no one else:)

Pay back is a %$&#@

So....it is 3:26a.m. I am at my mom's house. I can hear my dad snoring in the back room.....mom is asleep too. I am scared to fall asleep because she likes to get sassy and pull out her oxygen tube. The other night she told my dad that if he didn't like staying in the house all day "tough shit." She is so awesome.....I'm telling you she has not lost her sense of humor. She was listening to him talk the other day and rolled her eyes at me....too funny. She was scheduled for a lung tap last Friday, Oct.3rd. She decided she did not want to go......she said she was too tired. (Remember how much fluid they were getting off every three days....well today makes 7 days so it isn't pretty.) HOSPICE has been in today to give her a bath and get her all freshened up. I walked in tonight and she was all pretty in pink sittin in the chair.....she said it's about damn time someone pampered her! She is soooo right....it is long overdue.
Hospice has been great, they come in for family and medical support. They are right on top of getting all the meds mom needs to feel better. I told my dad today that mom was so unselfish all these years and was there whenever we needed her and now it is our turn, hence the title of this blog. There are some stargazer lilies in here too that someone brought over....they smell so good and they are my absolute all time favorite. I would take a pic, but its dark.

Ok, this is random but it's my blog so I wanna write it. I wanted to thank Em for the other nite. (My friend Em, no I haven't lost my marbles yet.) She drove clear down from Reno to have dinner with me because "it sounded like I needed my bestie." This whole experience has really "humbled" me.....wink wink to Em! We had a great talk and went to Chinese food. This was after we got my mom the Chinese food that she was craving.....it was funny, she ate the whole plate.
(Get the lady what she wants for goodness sake!)

Anyway, it was (and continues to be) a weird day.

And did I mention I miss my Kristopher....he has been soooo busy with work.
I love him to pieces.......guess I'm back to mom duty.
She's gettin me back for all the nights I kept her up. :)

So, today I woke up, spent some breakfast time with Kris and......USED THE GIFT CERTIFICATE MY GREAT FRIEND JEN BOUGHT ME FOR MY BIRTHDAY! The gift certificate was for a European facial. Trish Fisk, inside Cottage Chic, did the facial. It was about 1 hour and 45 minutes long! Complete with an exfoliant, masque, deep moisturizer, arm and foot massage. I want to thank Jen for the wonderful gift and opportunity for me to try and forget about all that is going on and just relax. My skin feels absolutely wonderful and I will definately go back to her. She did a great job. I recommend her if any of you are wanting some away time and a little R & R for yourself. Email me and I can give you her contact info if you are interested. Now I'm off to have some lunch and TRY to get some of these tests graded that my little ones took last week......or maybe I will take a nap! Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Mom update~ Week of 09/29/08

So there is not too much to report on mom. This Tuesday she went in for the tap on her lungs to try and get some fluid off and provide some relief. They managed to get 850ml, which is quite a bit. Unfortunately, the procedure is pretty invasive and is done up in Reno, on an outpatient basis. Mom is REALLY weak and needs lots of help now getting up and down, especially all the way out to the car. My brother flew in from the ARMY in Georgia to help out and him and my dad are doing a great job helping lift mom when she needs help.

She has had lots of visitors, but sleeps most of the day now. Thanks to everyone for visiting and offering to help. It really means a lot to know how people will help in a time of need. Also, thanks to everyone who has been leaving such nice comments, it helps me through!

I went to see mom this evening and she was pretty coherent. She ate a lite dinner and recently she has requested Otter Pops. I know that you remember them probably from when you were a kid. I was worried the other night because she requested one and the only ones I had were not frozen. How do you tell the lady that she is gonna have to wait? I searched the whole freezer and found one lonely orange Otter Pop for reserves in the fridge!! PHEW!! I put a whole pile of them in there now!! She was so cute, she was eating it and smacked her lips and said "mmmmmm, this is yummy." She had to have two since one is never enough! Ha! Kris eats like 9 at a time so I guess 2 isn't bad.

Anyway, I am SUPER tired so I will leave you at that. Thanks again for checking up and for all of your support. Mom would be flattered in knowing that she is loved so much!

So, I wanted to post something else since my last post (understandable) and I wanted it to be light hearted. Kris, Kris' mom Sharon, Kris' sister Stephanie and I all decided to head up to Genoa to the Candy Dance this weekend. We departed early and had a nice ride up there, got a great parking spot and headed out to see what we could find. We had a great time looking at all of the crafts. My favorite part was all of the GREAT TASTING (not great for you) FOOD that they had! It was nice to get my mind off of stuff and spend some time with people I care about. Thanks Sharon and Steph for a great day! Below are some pictures of our day and some of the things we bought. :)

At this point I think Kris was wondering if I was going to go home and work off all of the food I had eaten! No worries though...metabolism is in tip top shape:)

This is interesting and hilarious.....this sign was obviously at a hot dog stand. I found that it was so appropriate for the blog that I must take a pic of it. Nothing like a totally inappropriate sign for the annual family event of the Candy Dance. I loved it and wished that it was bigger, the sign that is.

Okay so I'm not sure how to say this and there is no easy way so this one will be short. This week, my mom had her MRI done and they found a large mass in her abdomen and more than one tumor in her brain. She was given the option to do radiation on her brain and was going to do that. The doctors told me it wouldn't help her. I went in and told her that and she has opted out of any further treatment at this time. My mom doesn't have a lot of time left, and I was told "your mom is now coming to the end of her life and you need to spend time with her." It is a weird feeling and I know that this has been coming, but this is the most horrible thing I have EVER and will EVER have to watch. My mom does not deserve any of this and yet she still is suffering and fighting day in and day out. She is at home now and this time will not be easy........they have brought in HOSPICE to help also. My brother came home from the ARMY to see her before he has to go back on Friday. Everyone knows of her condition in the family and its sad that my brother has to go back but I think my mom would understand. If anyone has any advice for me or has gone through this before, let me know......until then keep thinking of her and know that she is not sick or hurting from the chemo/radiation at this time. :(

Mom was having lots of trouble with pain in her abdomen. Her pain meds were not working like they should, so she called her oncologist and he suggested that she come in for a lung tap a few days early. After last week, when they didn't get as much fluid as they have been getting, they were going to have her wait a whole 7 days between taps. I asked her if that is what she thought they should do and she said it didn't feel like she needed a tap yet. But she went on up to Reno anyway today with my Dad to get it handled. She had also been complaining that she had been UNUSUALLY tired, more so than she has been. Her arm is so heavy that she couldn't lift it from the lymphodema. The nurses took one look at her and said "admit her."

She is up at Renown now and I think she feels better about being there. Hopefully they will get the lymphodema under control and get her to exercise and build up SOME muscle as she is really weak. Tomorrow they are going to run some tests to see why her abdomen hurts so bad. For now, I am glad that she is not hurting like she was and I HOPE that they MAKE her get up and around. As her daughter, I can only push her so much to move around and walk like she should be doing, but she has definitely shown a stubborn side to me when I suggest that she do this. She can't tell the doctors no....which will only be good for her later on:)

I am bummed that she is there but glad she is being monitored. I thought after the second round and after last week we were getting better. When I find out more, I will post. I still don't know what room she is in. Really why I'm posting is for you all to pray that she gets better and keep your fingers crossed that we can EVENTUALLY come out of these dark woods. :( This is SOOO horrible and I encourage any reader to:

STAY ON TOP OF PREVENTATIVE MEASURES AND TELL THE LADIES YOU LOVE TO DO THE SAME.
